Since July 2008 I am importing israeli wines to Brazil. Tishbi, Chillag and Amphorae.
One of the most important wine magazine inBrazil elected theTishbi Estate Pinot Noir 2006 between the "Top 100" wines of 2008 in Brazil.
In a blind tasting of Mediterraneans Wines ,with 45 participants in Bahia's Sommeliers Associations, the Chillag Giovane Merlot 2005 worn the first price.
So, I must agree with you that Israel is making a good performance in wine making.

I need, if someone can help, a supplier for good sparkling Israeli wine, Kosher Mevushal.
I am a long-time home winemaker looking to make Aliyah to Israel in 2011 and I am hoping to open an estate winery upon my arrival. I am looking for friends in Israel who also have a passion for wine and could help me out, as I am currently working on a business plan and have tons of questions about viticulture and winemaking in Israel.
For example:
- Where can I get grafted root-stock for the grape varieties that I am interested in growing?
- Is dry-farming possible in the Judean Hills?
- What spacing for the rows and vines would you recommend for a vineyard in the Judean Hills?
- Where can I buy trellis systems & industrial winemaking equipment - will I have to import these from the US or is a local supplier available, and who?
Me and my family were in Israel in the beginning of June, so we decided to take this opportunity to taste the wine. While tasting wine in Dalton Winery, we asked the rep. to tell us if there were any great boutique wineries around. She made a suggestion to go taste the wine at Meitav Winery and what a great suggestion it was. The winery is very small, but they make a such a great wine and the whole experience of tasting was incredible!!!! Very friendly atmosphere, nice owner, great representation!!! I wish them the best!!!
